Fourth Year students from the Pre-school Teacher Education Program of the Faculty of Education presented 6 papers at the 4th National Pre-school Teacher Education Student Conference held on May 21-23, 2009 in Ankara and organized by the Pre-school Teacher Education program of Gazi University, Gazi Faculty of Education, Department of Elementary Education.

The Congress lasted three days, and many conferences and workshops were organized by some faculty members expert in their fields during these days. Furthermore 60 papers and 15 posters were presented and discussed by students coming from various Pre-school Education Programs of the Universities in Turkey.

Fourth Year students in the Pre-school Teacher Education Program of EMU Faculty of Education submitted 6 of the projects they had prepared in the courses Research Project I and II taught by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Isik Gursimsek, and all were accepted for oral presentation. The students represented our University very successfully and received very positive feedback. It was confirmed that this was the first time that university students from the TRNC had participated actively in a congress. Students not only found the opportunity to enrich their knowledge and experience by attending workshops but they also had the chance to meet with academics and students coming from different universities.

Aslıhan Küçük, Melahat Yaman, F. Çağlayan Çukurova: A study on the messages conveyed in Cartoons from the standpoint of different variables

Ayşe Kapancı: A study on the variables that affect the academic performance of pre-school teacher candidiates

Şeyma İpek Temel: Determining the subject matter in Children’s Songs written for 0-6 year olds and categorizing them based on certain issues

Ayşegül Akgül, Merve Tokat: A study on the university students’ perspectives on children’s rights—the population: EMU Faculty of Education and Faculty of Engineering students

Sibel irem Tama, Özlem Dalkılıç: Studying the family concept of children in risk groups at various institutions in the TRNC through child pictures

Olcay Yılmaz, Hüseyin Cankurt, Ahmet Cinkara: Determining the child care and training needs of parents of toddlers (0-36 months).
